"The films included in this series have the ability
to mesmerize, thrill and enlighten if given the opportunity
to be seen. Fortunately The Maiden Alley Cinema and
Paducah Film Society are making this possible through
a year long classic film series. The movies included
are an essential part of every well rounded film vocabulary.
These are not just movies with a surface, but they have
scripts and characters with layers and depth.
Not only will you remember these actors, but you’ll
never forget the characters they portray. The
dialogue they deliver will dwell in your mind and continue
to revisit you. These aren’t old movies….they
are timeless treasures with themes as pertinent today
as the day they were released. The actors are
among the finest performers “The Golden Age of
Cinema” had to offer. You will find yourself
asking: Where have the great actors gone? The
answer is: They never left. They continue to exist
forever preserved in celluloid due to film conservation
and Hollywood’s vast archives. We invite you to
join us in our first season of viewing cinematic masterpieces
in a format for which they were originally created,
'the big screen'. " –Natalya
