VOLUNTEER INFORMATION & APPLICATION
So
you think you want to volunteer for a non-profit arts organization?
The Paducah Film Society needs you!
The
Vision of the Paducah Film Society is to become the leading
regional arts organization dedicated to enhancing culture
through film.
The Mission of the Paducah Film Society
is to use film to:
- Provide entertainment
- Promote visual literacy
- Create cross-cultural awareness
- Promote filmmaking as an art form
What we need from a PFS volunteer is time, honesty, hard work,
flexibility and diligence to enhance our community and to
ensure we achieve the Paducah Film Society’s goals.
COMMITTEES:
PADUCAH
FILM SOCIETY – Film Education Programs
As the Paducah Film Society grows we intend to sponsor and
participate in programs with the goal of educating our region
through and about films and filmmaking. As these events come
to light we will need help in planning and setting up booths,
creating and distributing educational tools and promoting
these events.
MAIDEN
ALLEY CINEMA – Operations
We are looking for a group of individuals looking to learn
the ropes of running a movie theater, including selling tickets
and popcorn, projection, providing a thorough weekly cleaning
and site maintenance. We can use people all week long, especially
during our operating hours of Thursday night through Sunday
night. If you feel like you can put your best foot forward
and help maintain and add to our current goal of providing
a fantastic movie-going experience, this is the right area
for you.
MAIDEN
ALLEY CINEMA – Promotions
When dealing with indie and foreign films the main problem
with keeping a theater filled is the lack of national press.
This creates a need for each independent theater to do their
own promotion for each film, every week. If you feel you can
assemble a Grade A Press contact list, create and distribute
exciting and thought-provoking weekly press releases, label
and distribute postcards and posters to our region or come
up with other great marketing ideas, this is the place for
you.
MAIDEN
ALLEY CINEMA – Gallery
If you have ever been to Maiden Alley Cinema you know that
one of the traits that makes this theater unique is our Art
Gallery. We need individuals willing to help with all aspects
of hanging a show such as handling precious artwork, cleaning
and patching walls, directing light, promotions, and organizing
and holding artist openings.
RIVERS
EDGE FILM FESTIVAL – In Development
Our next new program is holding Paducah’s first film
festival, the Rivers Edge Film Festival or REFF. The Board
is currently hard at work putting together a plan of attack
with hopes to be ready in 2005. REFF will be primarily managed
by volunteers. As areas of need develop this description will
be updated, but if you think this sounds right for you, go
ahead and sign up now.
If
any of these committees sounds right for you, please print
and complete the PDF volunteer
application below and bring it to our next meeting, fax
it to 270.441.7007 or mail it to:
